Your Questions, Answered

  • Look for an artist whose style genuinely moves you, not just one who's technically skilled. Do the subjects feel alive? Do the eyes carry expression? Pay attention to how they communicate. A great portrait artist asks about your pet's personality, not just their coloring. I bring a wildlife ecology background to every piece, which means I see each animal as an individual, not just a subject to replicate.

  • If you want to purchase a custom portrait, head to my shop page, select the portrait size, and checkout. You can prepay for your portrait this way, or if you’d rather pay after it is painted, email me at ginni@gentletouchartistry.com and skip the prepayment step.

For either process, I’ll review your information and get back to you via email within 2-5 business days to request reference photos, discuss your vision, and answer any questions. From there, we'll work together to create a portrait that truly captures the companion you love.

Note: I will confirm with you that the portrait is to your liking prior to shipping.

  • It means combining more than one medium in a single piece. My work is rooted in watercolor for its soft, luminous quality, with gouache added for detail and depth. Gouache is opaque, so it lets me bring forward fine details like whiskers, eye shine, or individual feathers that watercolor alone can't achieve.

  • A great portrait captures the feeling of your pet, not just their likeness. The head tilt. The lazy confidence. The alert ears. This comes from an artist who observes before they paint, and reference photos that show your pet in natural, unposed moments. Share multiple photos and tell me about their personality. The more I know who they are, the more of them ends up in the painting.

  • Custom portraits are priced according to paper size. Please make note that paper sizes are NOT typically standard photo sizes. I recommend a 2” mat and frame for any original pieces of artwork coming from my shop.

Base prices reflect the price for a single-subject, single-portrait purchase. Please email me if you’d like multiple subjects in one painting, or if you’d like multiple portraits done at once. I try my best to offer discounts for large orders. While art is personal, I’m very passionate about equity and accessibility, and I make it a point to make these pieces within reach of the ‘average consumer.’

  • I ship nationwide, but not outside of the United States (for now).

Each piece is shipped in a few layers of packing material for safety. The painting is placed in a plastic sleeve for protection from water damage, then placed between a few sheets of cardboard for stability, which are then placed into a flat bubble mailer, which is stickered with the shipping address and multiple ‘do not bend’ stickers. As you can see, I do my absolute best to keep your painting safe, but in the case that it arrives damaged, please reach out. I’m happy to discuss.

If ordering more than one work, the size will play into if they are shipped by box or not. If you’d like to request a box over a sleeve, that is fine, just reach out!

Cards, postcards, and other merchandise are shipped separately through Printify.

  • Originals: In addition to custom portraits, I also offer original works of art for purchase. The size and price vary according to the complexity of the subject and the time invested in the piece. They are always listed on my shop page and announced on social media.

Prints/Merchandise: For all original works that are posted, prints of some sort should be available but might not be available right away due to the needed time to set up the listings. If you’re interested in something and don’t see it listed, please reach out.
